VENTURA : Updates Available on Dudley House Work

A historical preservation group has set up a telephone number that people can call to get updates on its efforts to restore Ventura’s turn-of-the-century Dudley House.
“People are always wondering what’s going on with the house,” said Marie Lakin, spokeswoman for San Buenaventura Heritage Inc.
“And we are trying, obviously, to get volunteers and donations,” she said. “This is the best way we could think of to keep the house in the public’s eye.”
Callers to the number can find out about upcoming fund-raisers, opportunities to volunteer and updates on the project.
Preservation members are looking for carpenters, masons and others who can volunteer time and donate materials to complete refurbishment of the 1892 landmark by this fall.
When completed, the house will be a living history museum reflecting the life of the Dudley family and the Ventura farming community from 1895 to 1925.
The Queen Ann-style structure is at Ashwood Avenue and Loma Vista Road. For updates and other information about the restoration, call 642-3345.
