TWA, Machinists Union Reach Agreements: Trans World Airlines said the tentative pacts with its largest union provides new work-rule and productivity changes that would generate significant cost savings. Details of the plans were not immediately available. The machinists union represents 13,800 of TWA’s 24,500 U.S. workers, and the St. Louis-based airline views the agreements as a key first step in an effort to reverse its recent losses. Members of the International Assn. of Machinists and Aerospace Workers will vote on the proposed changes Aug. 25-30, TWA said.
