ANAHEIM : Firefighters to Collect Telethon Donations
- Share via
Firefighters will collect donations for Jerry Lewis’ Labor Day telethon Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Harbor Boulevard and Katella Avenue.
The project is called “Fill the Boot” because firefighters will be asking motorists to drop donations into a firefighter’s boot. Firefighters nationwide will be conducting similar campaigns this weekend.
The Fire Department expects to raise about $20,000 to contribute to the fight against muscular dystrophy, firefighter Bob Moore said. The Anaheim Fire Department has led all fire agencies in California in collecting for the telethon for the past 13 years.
What’s the secret of their success?
“We have a good attitude,” Moore said. “But it’s also a good street corner.”
