John Andretti barely lost the pole to Geoff Bodine in the opening round of qualifying for Sunday’s GM Goodwrench Dealers 400 in Brooklyn, Mich. Andretti, a NASCAR rookie making his first start for Richard Petty’s team, just missed catching Bodine with a lap time of 39.770-seconds and speed of 181.041 m.p.h. near the end of time trials.
