MCI to Offer High-Speed Service: Responding to the growing demand by business customers for faster transmissions of voice, video and data, the long-distance company plans to offer the service by December. The service is fast enough to allow a 90-minute movie to be transmitted in less than three minutes. Slower speeds will also be offered. Retail prices haven’t been set, but a flat fee is expected, an MCI spokesman said. MCI said it will market the service primarily to multinational corporations with numerous facilities around the country, firms that do scientific research and engineering, and government and universities.
