GM Names President for Its China Operations: The auto maker appointed Rudolph Schlais to the new position, underscoring its intention to expand China operations. Schlais, a 54-year-old General Motors Corp. vice president, had been general manager of GM’s Packard Electric division in Warren, Ohio.
