FHP Certified to Offer Workers’ Comp Insurance

COSTA MESA — FHP Life Insurance Co. has been designated as one of California’s first two health maintenance organizations to be certified by the California Department of Industrial Relations as a health care organization. The other is Manhattan Beach-based Travelers Insurance Co.
The certification allows both companies to provide workers’ compensation insurance in a managed care structure, which is aimed at controlling the high cost of such insurance.
It is also meant to simplify the work for employers who are given the option of contracting with one company for medical and workers’ compensation coverage.
