OUTLOOK
Murphy said Janell Jewett, the team’s top returning scorer, has improved her offensive skills and gained confidence. Holmes also might blossom into an offensive threat. Barbee will likely make the biggest impact out of the newcomers. Murphy expects her to take some of the scoring and rebounding burden off Jewett. Sendzik will start at point guard, but Wennekamp will get plenty of playing time there. The eight newcomers were part of an 18-7 junior varsity team last season. Murphy said she expects a big improvement from last season, because she took the job in September, and it took the team awhile to adjust to her system. Murphy said she figures the Chargers to battle Corona del Mar, Santa Margarita and Irvine for third place.
