Few people knew it, but May was feeling ill during the Sailors’ State Division I title match with Stockton St. Mary’s Saturday. It didn’t show. She had 21 kills and 10 digs in a 15-4, 16-14, 15-10 victory. “Misty wasn’t feeling well but she still had a great match,” Newport Harbor Coach Dan Glenn said. “I think she has played the best she has ever played in our run in the playoffs.” May had 15 kills and 10 digs in a sweep of Santa Cruz Harbor in the semifinals.
Basketball
Shandy Robbins
* Marina, senior. Had 16 points and 13 rebounds in a 43-33 victory over Mineral County (Nev.) in the Carson City (Nev.) tournament title game.
Jennifer Saari
* Brea-Olinda, sophomore. Scored 16 points in a 57-32 victory over Lynwood in the title game of the Rancho Grande tournament.

Megan Wachtler
* Corona del Mar. Advanced to the Southern Section doubles final by beating the top-seeded team of Shera Wiegler and Deborah Pepkowitz of Calabasas, 6-2, 6-2. Scott and Wachtler lost to Santa Barbara’s Pilar Montgomery and Sarita Yardi, 6-3, 6-0, in the final.
Volleyball

* Calvary Chapel, senior. Had 15 kills and 10 digs in a sweep of Orinda Miramonte in the State Division V title match.
