Countywide : Seniors to Be Offered Free Smoke Detectors
- Share via
Free smoke detectors will be available for Orange County senior citizens starting Dec. 16. Installation will also be free.
Presenting the safety program are the Orange County Fire Department, the Area Agency on Aging and local Kiwanis clubs. Funding is provided by the federal Older Americans Act.
Because many seniors live alone, and since most home fires occur between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m., smoke detectors are seen as essential for older adults, fire officials said.
For more information on the free smoke detectors, call the Area Agency on Aging at (714) 567-7500.
