After a Loss, Iwerks Cuts Work Force by 10%
- Share via
Iwerks Entertainment Inc., a Burbank supplier of special-format movie theaters and virtual reality attractions that recently reported a large quarterly loss, said it has reduced its work force by 10%.
The elimination of 21 staff positions is part of Iwerks’ “continued commitment to reduce operating costs and improve efficiency,” the company said in a statement. The majority of the job cuts were in Iwerks’ attractions division, which sells motion-simulation and other specialized theaters to theme parks and other entertainment venues.
In its fiscal second quarter ended Dec. 31, Iwerks lost $1.15 million on $10.7 million in revenue. In reporting the results, the company said that a review of its overall operations may result in a restructuring charge later this fiscal year.
