Less than 24 hours after Southern California Savings was robbed, police say they spotted the suspect on a Ventura bus bench Tuesday and arrested him.
Police say they identified Joseph William Trujillo, 24, of Ventura, who also uses the name Joseph Fields, from a bank camera photograph. He was arrested without incident near Ramona Street and North Ventura Avenue.
Police say the suspect walked into the Ventura bank about 3 p.m. Monday, demanded money and left with an undisclosed amount. No weapon was seen during the robbery. Police said that when Trujillo was arrested, they also seized a small but undisclosed amount of cash.
Trujillo is being held at Ventura County Jail, with bail set at $50,000.
Southern California Savings has been robbed twice in one week, with the suspect in the Jan. 30 robbery still at large. He is described as a white male about 6 feet, 3 inches tall weighing 185 pounds.
