Albertson’s Inc. Plans Expansion: The Boise-based supermarket operator said it plans to open 35 to 40 new stores in Southern California over the next five years--including six this year. Currently, Albertson’s has 101 stores in Southern California. The company said it will spend $3.37 billion to open 351 stores in the United States under a five-year expansion plan. The company currently operates 720 stores in 19 states.
