Quiksilver Inc.: The Costa Mesa designer and distributor of boys and young men’s casual clothing reported a profit of $1.5 million, or 23 cents a share, for its latest quarter. That compared to earnings of $1.5 million, or 23 cents a share, for the same period a year earlier, which included a gain of $600,000 from an accounting change. Sales for the company’s first quarter, which ended Jan. 31, increased 39% to $33.7 million from $24.3 million.
