BREA — Lee Moulin of Brea Olinda High isn’t good from three-point range.

She’s deadly.

Alemany would be first in line attesting to Moulin’s accuracy from beyond the three-point arc.

Moulin hit seven three-point baskets in Brea Olinda’s 56-52 Southern California Regional semifinal victory over Alemany Thursday night.

“One name made the difference in tonight’s game,” Alemany Coach Melissa Hearlihy said. “And it’s Moulin. How many threes did she hit?”

If not for Moulin and her 21 points, Alemany (25-6) might have knocked off the defending state champions.

Alemany seemed to have Brea Olinda (30-2) on the run in the fourth quarter.

With Dawn Metz, Brea Olinda’s 6-1 center, on the bench with four fouls, the Indians led, 43-40.

But when Samantha Rigley missed a layup with four minutes left, Brea responded with a three-pointer by Moulin that ignited a 10-0 run.

“If we could have opened up a lead with Metz on the bench, things might have been different,” Hearlihy said.

Kelli McKay had 15 points for Alemany, Carly Funicello added 13 points and 13 rebounds, and Rigley scored 10.

Alemany held Brea Olinda to five points in the third quarter to take a 32-31 lead; however, the Wildcats scored 25 in the fourth.

“Alemany was totally prepared to play us,” Brea Olinda Coach Jeff Sink said. “The first time we met, we played our best game of the season.”

The Wildcats defeated Alemany, 61-46, last month.
