AMR to Sell 12 Jetliners to Federal Express: The Fort Worth-based parent of American Airlines agreed to sell the McDonnell Douglas MD-11s to Federal Express Corp. for an undisclosed price. The airline also has the option to sell the other seven MD-11s in its fleet to the air-freight carrier. American will deliver the 12 MD-11s to FedEx between January, 1996, and October, 1999. If American exercises its option to sell the other seven MD-11s, those will be delivered between 2000 and 2002. FedEx also agreed to buy maintenance services from AMR for six years for its fleet, beginning with Boeing 727s, allowing AMR to keep machinists on staff.
