Comerica Sets Up Costa Mesa Shop: Though not yet a major presence on the Southern California banking scene, Comerica Bank-California hopes that will soon change.
The San Jose bank, owned by Detroit’s Comerica Inc. banking company, recently opened a branch in Costa Mesa, its third Southern California branch and its first in Orange County. It has 25 branches in Northern California.
“We’re extremely bullish on the Orange County market,” said J. Michael Fulton, the bank’s president and chief executive.
The bank, which has $2 billion in assets, hopes to capture the attention of business customers and consumers alike when a Comerica sign goes up soon on its building at 611 Anton Blvd. Comerica Bank-California is part of Comerica Inc.’s $33-billion operation with financial institutions in Michigan, Illinois, Florida and Texas, as well as California.
