First Lady Takes to Radio, Seeks to Calm Children

WASHINGTON — Reaching out to calm the fears of children, Hillary Rodham Clinton said Friday that young people in Oklahoma and the nation need to be told they are secure after this week’s bombing.

In a series of telephone calls to Oklahoma radio stations, the First Lady acted almost like a family counselor after a personal tragedy.

“Let’s get all of these fears and concerns that children have out in the open,” she said. “Friends of mine have told me that their children are asking if these children in Oklahoma died because they were bad children or because their parents were bad parents.”
