The United States, again getting strong goaltending from Pat Jablonski, scored twice in the opening period to defeat Norway, 2-1, in the World Hockey Championships in Stockholm.
The United States was outshot, 15-1, in the third period and Jablonski, the third-string goalie for the Toronto Maple Leafs, made several sparkling saves, including Henrik Aaby’s point-blank shot 10 minutes into the period.
Brazil and Argentina advanced to Friday’s final of the World Youth Championships in Doha, Qatar. Brazil defeated Portugal, 1-0, and Argentina upset Spain, 3-0. Brazil is defending champion.
