Airbus to Trim Expenses: Executives for the European plane maker said they want to cut production costs of its passenger aircraft by a quarter during the next five years and build them faster. The four-nation Airbus Industrie is determined to increase its share to more than half the world market, from its current estimated 30%. It competes with U.S. archrival Boeing Co., which holds most of the market.
