Billingsley Steps Down Again at Fountain Valley

Gordon Billingsley, who a year ago resigned his position as boys’ basketball coach at Fountain Valley High only to change his mind a few days later, again has turned in his resignation, Athletic Director Mike Henigan said Thursday.
“Gordon actually turned in his letter of resignation earlier this week, but I wanted to give him a couple days in case he changed his mind,” Henigan said.
Billingsley, who is 82-73 at Fountain Valley, will continue to teach math at the school. He is giving up coaching to spend more time with his family, Henigan said.
Fountain Valley won the Sunset League championship and reached the quarterfinals of the Southern Section playoffs the past two seasons under Billingsley, who was The Times Orange County boys’ coach of the year in 1993-94.
