Charles Lee
SCHOOL: Cleveland
SPORT: Track and Field
YEAR: Senior
SEASON AT A GLANCE: The transfer from Sherman Oaks CES is one of the big surprises in Southern California track this season. Lee is the region leader in the 200 meters at 21.4 seconds and ranks fourth in the 100 at 10.6 seconds--.01 out of first place.
WEEK AT A GLANCE: Lee posted wind-aided marks of 10.6 in the 100 and 21.2 in the 200 in qualifying heats of the Northwest Valley Conference preliminaries at Birmingham High last Friday. Coach Bill Paden figures Lee will lower the 200 mark in Friday’s final against Taft’s Moses Backus, who ran 21.3 last week. “If he and Moses can get together this week, if they can work together, I think they can go under 21,” Paden said.
