BASEBALL DAILY REPORT : AROUND THE MAJORS : Cardinals Send Watson Down

The St. Louis Cardinals sent left-hander Allen Watson to triple-A Louisville. Watson, 24, had a 10.95 ERA in three starts, although he threw 3 2/3 scoreless innings in relief Monday night in a loss at San Diego.
Giant left-hander Joe Rosselli, who has won two of three starts, experienced soreness in his pitching shoulder and was placed on the 15-day disabled list. Reliever Stephen Mintz was recalled from triple-A Phoenix. Backup first baseman Todd Benzinger was released. . . . Jim Leyritz and the New York Yankees avoided a salary arbitration hearing, agreeing on a one-year contract worth $1.35 million. . . . The Baltimore Orioles traded outfielder Jack Voigt to the Texas Rangers for right-handed pitcher John Dettmer.
