GARDENA : Council Leaves Zoning of Annexed Area Intact
- Share via
El Camino Village, an unincorporated area west of Gardena, officially became part of the city Monday.
Last month, voters approved Proposition F, which annexed about 164.5 acres between Crenshaw and Manhattan Beach boulevards and Marine and Van Ness avenues. Annexation passed 54.3% (316 votes) to 45.6% (256 votes).
The City Council accepted the results from the election at its May 9 meeting and passed an interim zoning ordinance that leaves the annexed area’s zoning unchanged. However, the city will perform a study to ensure that zoning in the area complies with the city’s regulations.
