A 35-year-old Oxnard man was stabbed and beaten Sunday afternoon in Colonia Park, authorities said.
The man, identified as Johnny Foster, was found by patrol officers suffering from three stab wounds to the upper torso and had apparently been hit several times in the head with a baseball bat, according to Oxnard Police Cmdr. Ken Nishihara.
Nishihara said police are trying to determine what sparked the attack on Foster, which occurred about 5:40 p.m.
“We don’t know what was behind this,” Nishihara said. “When we found him, he was alone. We can’t say one way or the other if this was gang-related or whether something else was behind [the attack].”
Foster was taken to St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Oxnard, where he was listed in stable condition, according to police.
As of late Sunday, police did not have any suspects in custody in connection with the attack.
