A Simi Valley man was killed early Monday when his car veered off California 118 and tumbled down a steep embankment, authorities said.
William Werther, 35, was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:37 a.m., authorities said. His passenger, Jenna Mason, 26, of Simi Valley, suffered minor injuries, authorities said.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Mason was taken to Simi Valley Hospital. Hospital officials said she was later transported to UCLA Medical Center, but medical center officials had no record of her.
Werther was driving west near Kuehner Drive, when his vehicle left the road, according to the California Highway Patrol. The vehicle turned over on the Kuehner off-ramp, hit the guard rail and overturned down a steep embankment, the CHP said.
An investigation was continuing, authorities said, but the accident did not appear to be alcohol-related.
