Driver Arrested After 2 1/2-Hour Televised Chase

A man driving a battered delivery truck on only three tires was arrested late Monday after leading police on a 2 1/2-hour chase across Los Angeles County, authorities said.
The televised pursuit, which began about 8:30 p.m. after officers tried to stop the truck near Pacific Avenue and Brighton Street in Burbank, continued through the Westside, including Venice Beach, before heading to central Los Angeles.
The chase ended at 10:50 p.m. at Long Beach and Vernon avenues in the Vernon area after officers repeatedly rammed the truck, which came to rest against a building. The unidentified driver was subdued and arrested by officers.
The truck suffered a crumpled roof and gaping hole on its passenger side when the driver careened through the concrete carport of a North Hollywood apartment complex, and an exposed rim gave off a off a shower of sparks during the chase.
