ANGELES NATIONAL FOREST — A 35-year-old man was killed when his truck was struck head-on by another truck on a winding mountain road Monday morning, authorities said.
Renald McCurtis of Palmdale was headed west on Angeles Crest Highway near Angeles Forest Highway at about 8 a.m. when Richard Robles, 25, of Barstow, who was headed east, hit him, said California Highway Patrol Officer Gretchen Jacobs.
McCurtis, who was wearing a seat belt, was airlifted to Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills, where he died a short time later, Jacobs said.
Robles suffered head injuries, a broken arm and broken jaw and was taken to Huntington Memorial Hospital, where he was listed in serious condition, she said.
The cause of the accident is under investigation.
