Thomas and Elizabeth Tierney of Newport Beach have given $25,000 to help underwrite UC Irvine’s production of “City of Angels.” The show is a collaboration between the university’s drama, dance and music departments and will run Nov. 9-19 at the Irvine Barclay Theatre. UCI had to cancel a musical production last year for lack of funds. The Tierney gift is half the estimated cost of this year’s production.
Yao-Fen You of Irvine, a student at UC Berkeley, is one of 15 undergraduates selected as summer interns by the J. Paul Getty Trust in Santa Monica. You will receive a $3,000 stipend to work in the department of paintings at the J. Paul Getty Museum in Malibu. The program, now in its third year, enables students to gain work experience in such areas as museum education, scholarship, curating and antiquities conservation. The J. Paul Getty Trust is a private operating foundation dedicated to the visual arts and the humanities.
