Pharmaxx Inc.: The Anaheim-based vitamin exporter agreed Tuesday to pay $20,000 in penalties to settle a state consumer-protection lawsuit alleging that the company failed to maintain sanitary manufacturing conditions. The allegations stemmed from a routine inspection of the facility in October, 1994, by the California Department of Health Services.
Pharmaxx admitted no wrongdoing. Alleged violations were based primarily on improper paperwork, according to company spokeswoman Nicole Hankins. Orange County Deputy Dist. Atty. Andrea L. Burke said the fine would cover the state’s investigation costs.
