San Gabriel Valley : Compromise Reached on City Council Seat
- Share via
In vote after vote, the Arcadia City Council was deadlocked on a replacement for Bob Margett, elected to the state Assembly earlier this month.
Two members wanted a planning commissioner to replace Margett, two others wanted a past council candidate.
Their compromise: Peter Ulrich, a relative unknown who was not even in the running last week. He was their unanimous choice Tuesday.
Ulrich, who said he is in his 70s, is a real estate consultant and commissioner on Arcadia Beautiful, a city improvement commission. He said he made the perfect compromise candidate because he doesn’t plan to stay in politics after April, 1996, when the term ends.
