Marine Injured in Accident at Base

CAMP PENDLETON — A Marine suffered serious injuries early Wednesday when a five-ton truck’s brakes failed and pinned him between it and a Jeep.
Lance Cpl. Carlos R. Rivera, 25, of Oxnard was standing at the bottom of a hill near the parked Jeep when a truck, approaching him from the top of the hill, lost its brakes.
Rivera was pinned between the front bumper of the truck and the rear of the Jeep. He was in serious condition Wednesday night at the San Diego Naval Hospital.
