BRIEFLY : Museums: Getty Center Trams Tested
- Share via
White tram cars began inching down the hillside at Getty Center Drive off the San Diego (405) Freeway this week.
The electric trams, which are being tested as they descend a curving guideway, are designed to shuttle visitors and staff between a parking lot near the freeway and the new Getty Center atop the hill. The three-quarter-mile trip will take about four minutes.
The cars will not carry visitors until the center opens in the fall of 1997.
