The Somis Union School District will celebrate its 100-year anniversary next month with a ceremony to dedicate its school grounds as a historical landmark, officials said
Local politicians and community members are expected to be on hand for the dedication, which will take place Sept. 16 in the school auditorium, officials said. The ceremony begins at 2 p.m. on the school grounds at 5268 North St. in Somis.
At 6 p.m., a barn dance, barbecue and silent auction will take place at the school. Admission to the dance is $25 per person.
Money raised from the event will be used to benefit science and math programs. About 300 students attend the school from kindergarten through eighth grade.
