Homeowners Get a Bad Shake on Quake Aid

* Can anyone explain why renters of earthquake-damaged apartments, whose only investment was first and last months’ rent, continue to receive rent money from HUD or FEMA, while owners of earthquake-damaged homes or condos, whose life savings are invested in these properties, received little or no help from any government agency?
Their mortgage payments continued, unlike renters’ rent payments, forcing many families to give their hard-earned properties back to the lender, causing further economic crisis in our deteriorating San Fernando Valley. What an injustice!
