Rockwell Names President of Aerospace, Defense Units

SEAL BEACH — Rockwell International Corp. has named a new head of its aerospace and defense divisions, which account for a third of the technology company’s $13 billion in annual sales.

John A. McLuckey, 55, will become president of Rockwell’s aerospace and defense business units, a newly created position. He will report to Kent A. Black, executive vice president, until Black retires next year.

Black had headed the company’s space and defense-electronics groups, but announced plans to retire in July when the company chose Don H. Davis as president and chief operating officer.

McLuckey, who has been president of the defense division, will report to Davis after Black retires early in 1996.

Analysts said they were not surprised by McLuckey’s promotion.

“He has already been responsible for much of Rockwell’s international business, and the additional title has been awarded with his increasingly wider role,” said Lior Bregman, an analyst with Oppenheimer & Co., an investment bank in New York.

The company also announced other executive changes.

Jodie K. Glore, 48, president of the company’s automation division, and William D. Fletcher, 56, formally president of automation for the Asia/Pacific region, have been appointed corporate senior vice presidents.

Clay M. Jones, 46, previously senior vice president of Rockwell’s government operations and international divisions, has been named to head Rockwell’s Collins Air Transport Division based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Joseph H. Garrett Jr., 58, has been named vice president of government affairs and marketing.
