Bishop Diego 48, Santa Clara 7--The Saints (1-3) got off to a bad start when Andy Maciel had his pass intercepted by Steven Yee on Santa Clara’s second play from scrimmage, and it got worse from there in a nonleague game at Bishop Diego.
Maciel was sacked four times for losses of 42 yards and completed only nine of 25 for 104 yards.
Santa Clara’s only score came on Andre Pinedo’s two-yard run in the second quarter, which cut Bishop Diego’s lead to 20-7.
The Saints played without leading rusher Mike Moon, who suffered a separated right shoulder last week against Rio Mesa.
He is expected to be sidelined for two weeks.
