Harley-Davidson has asked the U.S. government to trademark a roar--the one its motorcycle engines make.
A company spokesman said competitors’ attempt to copy the full-throated growl is threatening to undermine the cycles’ value and resale price.
“We are looking to register the sound of a Harley-Davidson. . . . We have made engines this way since 1909,” Ken Schmidt said.
