HUNTINGTON BEACH — An employee at a fast-food restaurant was assaulted and robbed at gunpoint of $1,105 in cash while leaving work Saturday afternoon, police said.
The victim, 18-year-old Otilia Duvon of Huntington Beach, was walking to her car about 4 p.m. with cash to be deposited in the bank from the Del Taco in the 20900 block of Magnolia Street. A man walked up behind her and struck her on the left side of the face with a handgun, said Sgt. Mike Mello of the Huntington Beach Police Department.
The robber then reached into a bag Duvon was carrying and grabbed the cash, police said. He ran off and got into a car and fled, Mello said.
Another Del Taco employee saw the assault and came to Duvon’s aid, Mello said.
The robber was described as a 5-foot-6, 130-pound Latino, about 25, with fair skin.
