Boeing Co.’s Unions Open New Talks: The firm’s engineers union entered contract negotiations by making a show of solidarity with the more than 32,000 Machinists who have been on strike against the world’s largest airplane manufacturer since Oct. 6. The Seattle Professional Engineering Employees Assn., which represents about 20,000 professional and technical workers, began intensive negotiations aimed at winning a new pact to replace the three-year labor contract that expires Dec. 1. Jim Pierre, president of SPEEA, said the union shares many concerns with the Machinists.
