COMMUNITY COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Rancho Santiago Upsets Palomar in Wrestling

Heavyweight Jim Ambriz won a decision to help visiting Rancho Santiago defeat top-ranked Palomar, 21-20, in a South Coast Conference wrestling match Wednesday in San Marcos.
Palomar led, 18-16, going into the final match, but Ambriz beat Chad Totina, 7-2, to earn three points for Rancho Santiago, which is ranked ninth in the state.
Terri Tuzzolino had a pin at 177 pounds also for Rancho Santiago.
In Western State Conference wrestling:
Moorpark 41, Cypress 6--Moorpark (5-6-1, 1-1-1) had four pins. Derek Stonebarger (177 pounds) and David Wheeler (heavyweight) had the only victories for Cypress (2-7, 0-3).
In Orange Empire Conference wrestling:
Golden West 3, Fullerton 0--Ursula Luna and Tina Bowman each had seven kills as visiting Golden West won, 15-12, 15-11, 15-8. It was the 107th consecutive conference victory for Golden West, which won, 15-12, 15-11, 15-8. Nadia Hoerner had 13 kills for Fullerton (7-5, 4-2).
