Nordhoff 28, Santa Clara 0--Russell Farrar ran for a career-high 220 yards and scored two touchdowns for Nordhoff at Rio Mesa High.
Farrar’s first touchdown came on a 55-yard run on the first play of the second quarter and capped an 80-yard, six-play drive. His second score came on an 81-yard run after Farrar, who also plays linebacker, had tackled Santa Clara quarterback Adrian Maciel on a fourth-down play at the Ranger 19-yard line.
Santa Clara (1-7, 0-3) drove inside Nordhoff’s 20-yard line six times, but failed to score. The Rangers’ defense was led by Rusty Perry, who recovered two fumbles.
Ben Harrold scored touchdowns for Nordhoff (4-4, 1-1) on a pair of one-yard runs. The Rangers gained 305 yards on the ground.
Maciel completed 16 of 30 passes for 212 yards. Andy Super was the Saints’ leading receiver with 10 receptions for 121 yards.
Mike Moon rushed for 87 yards in 16 carries for Santa Clara.
