LOS ALAMITOS — About half a dozen men, some brandishing handguns, stormed into a bank Thursday, quickly looted the office and escaped with an unknown amount of cash, police said.
Witnesses told police the five or six men entered the Home Bank in the 10900 block of Pine Street at 11:20 a.m. and ordered the employees and one customer to the floor, Police Capt. Mike Sellers said.
The robbery lasted several minutes as the men took cash from teller drawers. They then fled through the front door, where several accomplices were waiting in various vehicles.
“We believe multiple cars were involved,” Sellers said.
Two employees, one of whom was struck by a pistol, were treated at the scene for minor injuries, police said.
The bandits were described as black, in their late teens to early 20s, wearing baggy clothes with hoods. One was wearing a knit cap that covered his ears, Sellers said.
Police and the FBI are investigating the robbery.
