1994-95: 18-5, 4-1 in the Century League; opened season against Calvary Chapel and took a beating, but picked up momentum later to win the league title.

Outlook: Vanguards’ first big test comes mid-December at the Silverado tournament in Las Vegas. “A lot of talent will be there, including Calvary Chapel, and that will be a good test for us,” Clinton said. With a record number of wrestlers coming out for the team, Clinton is excited and thinks the Vanguards are loaded with talent. Watch for Kingman and Long to be serious contenders at Southern Section and State finals. Also look for Gardner, whom Clinton calls a diamond in the rough.
