COSTA MESA : 3% Pay Raise for Police OKd

Police Department officers are getting a 3% pay raise, less than they had requested but in line with a 1994 agreement between the city and the department.
“They received a higher percentage raise than any of the other employees,” Mayor Joe Erickson said after the City Council approved the increase Monday. “We believe they are very fairly compensated.”
Robert Crogan, president of the Police Officers Assn., had asked the council for a bigger raise, saying that officers’ requests were ignored in salary negotiations.
