The group graduating from Golden West College in Huntington Beach included Thomas Hoang, a native of Vietnam who moved to Villa Park as a child. He brings fluency in the Vietnamese language to the department.
Jeffrey Swift, who grew up in Lake Elsinore, previously worked with the Coast Guard and helped the Secret Service provide security for former President George Bush.
Also joining the department are Paul Ruiz of Yorba Linda, Stanton native Brian Healy and Matthew Timney, a marine biologist.
