2 More Democrats Say They Will Leave House

JASPER, Ala. — Democratic Rep. Tom Bevill, known as the “King of Pork” for bringing millions in federal dollars back home to Alabama, said Friday he will retire after 15 terms in Congress.
And in further bad news for Democrats who had hoped to recapture the House, seven-term Democratic Rep. John Bryant of Texas said he will abandon his seat to run against Republican Sen. Phil Gramm in 1996.
