Yemen Reports Battle With Eritrea Over Isle

SANA, Yemen — Yemeni military sources said Sunday that Yemen’s warplanes attacked Eritrean warships besieging the disputed island of Hanish Kabir in the southern Red Sea.
There was no independent confirmation and no immediate response from Eritrea.
The military sources said the small Yemeni garrison on the island was holding out against the Eritreans. They said Yemeni forces were suffering heavy casualties but gave no figures.
