A Life Touched by Miracle Workers

Re “The Human Touch” (the Sunday Profile: Dr. Richard Grossman, Dec. 17): Nearly 21 years ago on Jan. 12, 1975, Dr. Grossman saved my mother’s life. Her car had exploded on the Hollywood Freeway; my mother was trapped inside. Under his care and that of his dedicated staff at the Sherman Oaks Burn Center, my mother, Beatrice Berman, returned from hell to a productive life.
Dr. G, as he is affectionately called, is not only a hero to all those whose lives he has valiantly restored but is also an exemplary role model for anyone who has decided to dedicate his or her life to humanity.
Had my mother been interviewed for your article, she would have echoed my accolades. In addition, she would have relayed the following: One year ago, a man in the Bullock’s parking lot at the Woodland Hills Promenade approached her. The man turned out to be Roy Wunderlich, the undercover police officer who happened to be traveling behind her on the freeway 21 years ago. It was he who pulled her out of the window of her flaming car.
My mom’s life has been graced by two miracle workers.
