A fire started by a lamp falling on a couch caused about $175,000 in damage to a Moorpark house Wednesday afternoon, authorities said.
Diann Nelson, the homeowner, was treated at Los Robles Regional Medical Center in Thousand Oaks for smoke inhalation and released, Ventura County Fire Department officials said.
Nelson, who had been upstairs, was alerted to the blaze by a smoke detector about 2 p.m. Fire officials said a couch in the downstairs family room had caught fire.
Responding with three engines, a truck, battalion chief and a fire investigator, the Fire Department extinguished the fire at 2:31 p.m.
The blaze at 13718 Donnybrook Lane caused about $125,000 in structural damage and $50,000 in damage to contents.
